That irritating virtue. Patience. It’s the only thing that gets exercised regularly in our house. - 075/365

I can safely say that no sport, no pet, no job, no hobby and no yoga practice has taught me more patience more than Lyme disease.

“Let’s go for it and add the next med,” I told my doctor, “I’m hard on my body. I can handle it.” It took exactly 10 days before I said “uncle” and had to chat with him about backing off on that med for a few days.

This is a long and hard fight. It cannot be won overnight and it can’t be won storming in, all weapons drawn. Patience is the best weapon for fighting Lyme disease.

The hardest thing about this long fight is the effect this has on my once very active dogs who are now relegated to only one 2-3 mile walk around the ‘hood per day and sometimes no walk at all.  But if they can be patient, so can I.

Yes, this is Flashback Friday. Go check out the original post.  I'm a hell-of-a-lot better than I was since that post written 16 months ago. I'm walking, cooking, writing, and practicing yoga again. I still have a long way to go. But sometimes flashbacks make you appreciate how far you've come!

  1. You are right - it is nice to look back and appreciate the things we can now do, as opposed to what we can't do yet.

  2. It is nice to be able to see that there has been improvement despite the long road ahead. We are sending you wishes for a nice weekend and some fun time with the pups.
