"It's as if there is some bug so deep in your PC that no virus program can find or fix, and it gets carried over to each new PC you get," said MWD about my latest technology drama.

A bug so well-hidden that no test can diagnose it. No program can fix or cure it. No virus protection can keep it out. Hidden among my document files, the bug goes undetected for 18 months before crashes begin. No matter what anti-viral software or debugging techniques we try, the computer lasts another 6 months before it's rendered useless.

"So basically, you're telling me my computer has Lyme disease," I reply.

MWD loves to tease me about how hard I am on PCs. But it's true. I go through PCs faster than my husky goes through my Danskos. In the last 6 years I've had 4 high-performing PCs.  Wish I could buy a new body and brain every time Lyme resurfaces.

So before we shell out for yet another computer, I put my current PC on Doxycycline. I mean, it can't hurt, right? I still have about 3 unopened bottles of liquid Mepron. I wonder which port I should pour it into just in case my PC is also co-infected with Babesia?

New computer is in the mail.
